First things first, carp do at least seem to be intelligent creatures and you will have to learn techniques and strategies to outwit the crafty carp in order to catch them. Once a carp or carp swim is overfished, by inexperienced anglers, it may become subject to the problem where carp will start to become wary of the angler which is again down to baiting techniques, rig types, excessive noise etc that will scare the carp and then when you try to catch the carp is on its guard as it may well know from previous experience that it is in danger and it will be extremely cautious then to feed or take your bait.

Don't be put off by my information mentioned above as we can and will use the knowledge of carp being cautious or wary of baits and rigs and use it to our advantage and you will then have the carp anglers just amazed, once you have mastered good techniques, at how quickly and often you will catch specimen carp.
